The Sales Manager reports to the Director of GSOF Events. S/he leads assigned event exhibit and sponsorship sales.
Collaborate with teammates to develop a comprehensive sales budget and marketing plan for each assigned event
Build and maintain the database of potential sponsors and exhibitors for GSOF events
Manage sponsorship and exhibit sales pipeline, contracting, and accounts receivable for all GSOF events; report updates on a weekly basis
Lead contract fulfillment for event exhibitors and sponsors, to include purchase and tracking of sponsored items
Create and update the sponsorship prospectus(es) as needed
Develop unique and impactful sponsorship and exhibit opportunities
Develop excellent customer relationships, including identifying customer needs and creative solutions
Provide outstanding customer service support with rebooking of current exhibitors and sponsors
Collaborate with external sales partners when appropriate
Conduct outreach campaigns to include phone calls, email, social media, and industry tradeshow prospecting
Work with GSOF teammates to evaluate all events, ensuring continual improvement and quality customer service
Other event-focused tasks, as required.
Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of meeting and event experience, or 5+ years combined equivalent of work experience and education required
At least 3 years of experience selling, coordinating, and scheduling multiple events simultaneously or experience in defense industry sales or business development
Knowledge of information systems, including association databases, customer relationship management, data collection and analysis, and/or formal report development
Self-motivated and proactive team leader with experience accomplishing prescribed goals with little or no supervision
Experience handling high-volume, production-based projects, including prioritizing, organizing, and tracking details, effectively managing deadlines and multiple priorities.
Impeccable attention to ensure that all contractual commitments are met
Willingness to learn and look for ways to improve processes to achieve greater efficiency in pre, during, and post planning phases. This involves taking the initiative to try new approaches and trusting one’s own professional judgment
Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively to express information in both written and oral context with internal customers, attendees, team members, and vendors
Strong writing skills and a proven track record of developing professional and effective communications
Ability to work remotely with a fast-paced, dynamic team
