Reports To: Vice President, Marketing, Experience Columbus (dotted line to Executive Director, Sports Commission)
Status: Full Time (40+ hours)
Location: Arena District office, Columbus
Travel: locally to event and meetings in Columbus. 10-15% later in 2021 and 2022, overnight to conventions/events/tradeshows in US cities for conferences, meetings and pre-promotes.
What You Will Accomplish
Develop, implement and maintain marketing strategies and plans to promote sports and convention visitors, working with Business Development, Sales, Events, Destination Experience and Partnership team efforts. Collaborate and develop strategy across a larger integrated marketing team. Directly manage direct reports on the marketing team in the day-to-day activities of executing project plans. Be a visible community steward and active marketing leader for the Columbus destination.
Responsibilities will include:
Conceptualize, develop and implement integrated marketing communications and programs
Develop and maintain PR strategies, in collaboration with agency of record and PR department that enhances the brand and educates the public about upcoming events
Create social media strategies, content and promotion, including support of hosted sporting events
Develop and implement project plan for Sport Commission keynote and owned events by overseeing strategic planning, script development, graphics support, video support, and event promotion
Develop, manage and forecast marketing project budgets
Collaborate with the Strategic Partnership team to concept and develop tools, resources and materials to educate corporate, civic and other local community audiences to generate interest in and financial support for the Sports Commission
Oversight of marketing plan initiatives for the Sports Business Development team, such as sales materials and collateral for sports event bids
Oversight of marketing plan initiatives for the Events team in promotion of hosted sporting events, ensure alignment with the event's marketing team to create and execute marketing plan.
Develop strategy and marketing plan to maximize ticket sales and attendance at hosted sporting events based on client need
Develop collaborative relationships with external partners and media outlets including tv and radio networks, marketing leaders at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, Nationwide Arena, Ohio Stadium, Schottenstein Center, downtown districts, large annual events organizers, and other local sports team partners
Provide marketing strategy for Convention Sales activities
Develop strategy to support convention-specific sales targets and tracking and analytics of those plans
Expand and develop marketing platforms to support in promoting, selling and booking groups into the Greater Columbus Convention Center
Work collaboratively with the sales teams, provide pre-, during, and post-event marketing materials to support tradeshows, sales calls, site inspections, client events and other sales activities
Manage the convention advertising budget-maintain co-op ad program with SMG; work with ad agency on media plan, placement, traffic and reporting; process all invoices; provide monthly budget management and forecasting.
Set strategy for Experience Columbus' Meeting Planner site, including ensuring data is up-to-date and working collaboratively with PR Manager to fulfill content needs.
Actively collaborate with PR team on convention tradeshow specific opportunities
Develop marketing strategy, management, and materials for the large city-wide meeting & expositions:
Develop and implement an innovative marketing and communications plan to promote Columbus as the host destination for 2023 PCMA within budget and production time-line
Participate and lead where appropriate in all PCMA marketing planning meetings
Build and lead a community-based marketing committee in support of PCMA initiatives
Develop and lead all marketing and promotional resources, tools, materials, presentations, collateral, videos, websites, social presence
Regularly track and report analytics to measure success of tactics
