Ragan Communications is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager to join our fast-growing team that serves communications executives worldwide through the Communications Leadership Council and Ragan conferences and digital offerings. We’re looking for a sales leader with a keen ability to relate to people while also having a proven and demonstrated hunger to close business. The ideal candidate would have experience selling a membership product or sponsorships to those in the communications, social media, marketing or HR space. Moreover, the Business Development Manager should also have experience in managing small teams with big goals. A track record of sales success is a must. Functions and Responsibilities:
Supports the end-to-end development and delivery of new business pitches and presentations, via phone and in-person.
Fosters strong interdepartmental relationships and seeks ways to continually evolve pitch quality.
Provides new business leadership in the pitch and close process and is responsible for closing new business monthly for the Communications Leadership Council and for other Ragan products.
Masterful storytelling around Ragan’s position and expertise with an ability to nimbly highlight different aspects of the offering based on audience targets.
Relationship builder who understand that it isn’t just about the pitch and close, but also the annual renewal.
Pinpoints relevant industry news, trends and critical information related to the internal and external communications marketplace and our current customers
Oversees and coaches the Ragan sponsorship team to ensure excellent sales processes are in place and annual revenue goals are achieved.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; an emphasis in communications, marketing and/or business administration preferred.
7+ years of prior experience in sales and new business development.
A proven track record of relationship management and new business wins is critically important in this role.
The ability to motivate and work seamlessly with colleagues across departments and areas of expertise, regardless of level of seniority.
Experience managing teams of employees and growing junior employees.
